What to expect

The practitioner assesses your skin, cleans it and may apply numbing cream.
A sterile needle device is moved across agreed areas, followed by aftercare instructions.

How it feels

Scratching, prickling and pressure. Numbing cream can help, but sensitive areas may still sting.

Downtime

Skin can look red or darker and feel sunburned, dry or swollen for several days, sometimes up to a week. You may feel able to work sooner than you feel ready for social plans.

Results

When you might see a change. Look for gradual change over weeks to months. Early swelling can briefly make skin look smoother.

How long it might last. Changes fade at different rates. There is no single reliable duration for texture and scar results.

How often?

A course is common; acne-scar plans may involve 3–5 sessions several weeks apart. Depth and recovery affect spacing. Discuss maintenance after the response is assessed.

Before your appointment

Discuss acne medicines, cold sores and recent tanning.
Ask which active skincare to pause; do not stop prescribed medicines yourself.

Aftercare

Wait at least 24 hours before makeup, or longer if advised.
Use the advised moisturiser and sun protection; seek advice for increasing pain, heat or discharge.

Is it right for everyone?

Active infection, inflamed acne, poor healing or keloid scarring need assessment.
