Your appointment, explained

What to expect
  1. The practitioner checks your skin, medicines and preparation, then cleans the area.
  2. The solution is applied and monitored, then removed or neutralised as required by that product.

How it feels

Tingling or stinging followed by tightness. Stronger peels can burn and require additional pain control.

Downtime

Light peels can cause redness and flaking for 1–7 days. Medium peels may need 7–14 days of healing with visible swelling and crusting. Deep peels require specialist care and longer recovery.

Results

When you might see a change. Judge changes after healing. A light peel may need several sessions before an improvement is noticeable.

How long it might last. Results are not permanent. The concern being treated, peel depth and sun exposure affect how long changes last.

How often?

Light peels may be offered as 3–5 sessions a few weeks apart. Medium peels are less frequent and need review; deep peels are not routine repeat facials.

Before your appointment
  • Mention cold sores, isotretinoin, medicines and a tendency to dark marks or scars.
  • Follow the agreed preparation routine and avoid tanning; check which products to pause.
Aftercare
  • Use the recommended moisturiser and sun protection. Do not pick peeling skin.
  • Wait for the clinic’s clearance before active skincare or makeup; seek advice for worsening burning or swelling.
Is it right for everyone?

Active infection, impaired healing and pigment-change risk need assessment. Choose a practitioner experienced with your skin tone. Stronger peels can scar.

Common reasons people book
  • Uneven-looking tone
  • Rough surface texture
What your practitioner will confirm

The practitioner selects acid, strength and depth. A booking must say whether it is a light peel or a more intensive procedure.

Treatment details are a general guide. Your practitioner will confirm what is suitable for you, the exact treatment plan and aftercare.
